Applies to the Scanful iOS app · Last updated July 19, 2026
The short version
- Scanning and decoding happen entirely on your device — no account, no sign-in.
- Your scan history is stored on your device and nothing is uploaded to us.
- We have no analytics and no third-party trackers.
- The only permission Scanful needs is the camera, and only while you're scanning.
Scanful ("Scanful", "we", "us") is a QR & barcode scanner for iOS, operated by ifconfiger. This policy explains what the app accesses, how it's used, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
None on our side. Scanful has no account and no server. It does not include analytics or advertising SDKs and does not send your scans, history, or usage anywhere.
2. Camera & scans
Scanful uses the camera — only while you are on the scanning screen — to detect QR codes and barcodes. Frames are processed on-device to decode the code and are not recorded or transmitted. You can also decode an image you pick from your photo library; that image is read on-device for decoding only.
3. Your scan history
Decoded results (the value, its symbology, and a timestamp) are saved to a history that lives on your device. It is included only in your own device or iCloud backups, which are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. You can delete any item, or clear the whole history, from within the app.
4. Opening links & actions
When a scan contains a URL, joining a Wi-Fi network, adding a contact, or opening the link in Safari happens only when you tap the corresponding action. Following a link takes you to a third-party site or app whose own privacy practices then apply. Scanful itself makes no background network connections.
5. Your choices
- Delete history: remove any single scan or clear all history in the app.
- Camera access: revoke it any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera (you can still decode images from your library).
- Delete everything: deleting the app removes the on-device history.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. Since we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing on our side to access or erase, but you're welcome to contact us with any question.
6. Children
Scanful is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.
7. Security
Keeping data on-device by default, with no server to breach, is the core of how we protect your information. We also rely on the platform's built-in protections. No method of storage is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard your data.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, note it in the app's release notes.
